Breathing Apparatus


To provide the user the skills, knowledge and understanding to correctly maintain, operate and wear compressed air breathing apparatus.

Who Should Attend

Personnel required to wear compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA) in or escape from irrespirable atmospheres.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the safe operation of a compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA)
  • Prepare, test, and re-commission CABA equipment
  • Wear and monitor a CABA.
  • Implement emergency procedures


  • Be 16 years of age or over
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.0 (General Training). Proof of this will be required.

Attendance Capacity

Minimum of 8 trainees and a Maximum of 10 trainees per programme.


Course Fees

$315.65 + GST per person

Course costs include all learning materials and completion certificate. Costs also include registration of unit standard credits with NZQA.

On-site courses may require an extra charge for the hire of BA equipment.
