Workplace Chemical Safety

Overview

This foundation course supports employers to meet their obligations under the Hazardous Substances Regulations 2017. Section 4.5 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 require all workers at risk of exposure to Hazardous Substances at work to be trained in basic knowledge of chemicals.

Who Should Attend

All staff working within or around an environment where hazardous substances are used

Course Objectives

As a result course attendees will gain knowledge of:

  • Hazardous substances in a workplace and their potential adverse effects
  • Workplace procedures to prevent adverse effects of hazardous substances.
  • Safe use of PPE to reduce exposure
  • Knowledge of procedures during emergencies

Pre-Requisites

  • Be 16 years of age or over
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.0 (General Training). Proof of this will be required.
