Tower Crane Operator Course

After an industry review with Skills.org, unit standards 16617, 3789 and 3800 will require unit 30072 as a pre-requisite.

Course Content

By completing this Tower Crane Operator course, and based on the trainee's practical experience, at the end of this programme, trainees will be able to apply theory and skills in lifting regular loads with a tower crane, analyse and evaluate processes, through practical experience. This course is based on coaching and assessment and is designed for trainees with experience in crane operation.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • demonstrate knowledge of using a tower crane;
  • position the tower crane, and lift and place regular and irregular loads;
  • put the tower crane into out-of-service condition; and
  • carry out daily and weekly operator maintenance of a tower crane.

Please note that unit standard 3789, now requires 30072 as a pre-requisite. If trainees do not hold 3789, then both units 30072 and 3789 will be required for entry into this unit. These courses are available from AMS Group. Please contact AMS Group to discuss your options.

Pre-Requisites

  • Unit Standard 3789 Sling regular loads and communicate during crane operations - proof will be required for registration

Please note that If trainees do not hold 3789, this course is available from AMS Group. If you would like your team to complete both 3789 and 3794 on consecutive days, please contact AMS Group to discuss your options.

Additional Pre-Requisites

  • Be 16 years of age or over
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.0 (General Training). Proof of this will be required.
