AMS Group & VTNZ : A New Vision for Safer Vehicles and Safer Drivers

AMS Group and VTNZ understand the critical relationship of vehicle safety, driver safety and road safety.  By combining services in a joint initiative these leading organisations have created the opportunity to test vehicle safety and driver safety in a single location.

AMS Group’s driver training services will be available at seven VTNZ stations in Auckland on 1st September 2013.  This is the start of AMS Group and VTNZ’s new five month trial initiative.  The initiative is expected to expand to all VTNZ stations, nationwide.

Improving the skills of drivers and specifically truck drivers on the roads is positive for all road users.  “In crashes involving trucks, most of the deaths are not truck occupants, but rather the other road users involved…The truck driver had the primary responsibility for about a third (34 percent) of fatal crashes.” (Source: Truck crash facts 2012, Ministry of Transport).

AMS Group’s Managing Director, Kevin Wall states “VTNZ is very much focused on vehicle safety and AMS Group are focused on producing the best possible drivers”. He adds “We’ve got a vision of road safety for the country that we are putting into action. Accessibility to these services is critical”

Creating greater accessibility to training services is required to achieve the “safe vehicle  and safe driver” goals.  Kevin Wall said “the initiative will offer better value and provide greater access to an increased range of services.  Customers will be able to access services from any of the seven VTNZ locations.”

Aucklander’s have a unique opportunity to pre-book the driver training safety courses from August either online on the AMS Group website or at any of these VTNZ testing stations.  The seven VTNZ testing stations in Auckland taking part in the initiative include: Takanini, Kingsland, Glenfield, Sylvia Park, New Lynn, Wiri and Pukekohe.
