All Terrain Vehicles
ATV’s are one of the biggest killers and causes of “Lost Time Injuries” within agriculture and industry. ATV’s are notoriously prone to roll-overs, with their high centre-of-gravity combined with their sheer weight, makes an ATV very dangerous to an untrained operator. This course covers vehicle dynamics, hazards identification and safe operating procedures.
Theory components include:
- Health and Safety requirements
- ATV components and dynamics. Dos and Donts.
- pre-start checks
- Basic maintenance and common faults.
- Surface awareness
The basic practical components
- Basic cornering and weight transfer in both 2WD & 4WD
- ATV weight appreciation
- Riding of the ATV, up & down hills, demonstrations of the side-loading dangers,
- Practical body movements to maintain a safe Centre of Gravity through all operation.
The course meets the requirements covers unit standards:
24554 Ride an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Flat Terrain
24557 Demonstrate Knowledge of the Safe Operation of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV)
24559 Ride an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on Undulating Terrain
This course includes theory and practical training.
Cost
Standard price is $250+gst per person per day. Minimum of 8 people
Registration of NZQA credits on record of learning - $3 plus gst per credit.
Course Duration
One to two days depending on training requirements and experience levels
