Traffic Management Courses

Promote Safe Temporary Traffic Management Operations

AMS Group Traffic Management  courses promotes safe traffic management working practices, standards and operating procedures at roadwork sites for your staff.

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) Level 1 Basic Traffic Controller (TC) course, which covers the standards and operating procedures required by the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management (COP/TTM) is the minimum requirements for TTM operation.

All state highways are classified as a particular TTM level dependent on the traffic volumes. Four levels of TTM are described within the code and, in increasing order of complexity, these are:

  • Level LV - Low Volume Roads (AADT less than 500 vpd)
  • Level 1 - Low to Moderate Volume Roads (AADT 500 to 10,000 vpd)
  • Level 2 - High Volume Roads (AADT greater than 10,000 vpd)
  • Level 3 - High Volume, High Speed Multi-lane Roads, Expressways and Motorways (AADT greater than 10,000 vpd and speed greater than 75 km/h)

Appropriately trained and qualified staff must be available to carry out temporary traffic management duties in compliance with the NZTA COP/TTM and Local Roads supplement on all work sites.

The TC is the pre-requisite for entry requirement for people wanting further training to Level 1 Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) standard of the Code of Practice for Temporary Traffic Management.
