Entry Criteria

You must have held a full class 1 licence for at least six months.

Description

The course is run for three full days each week for 12 weeks at one of our 4 training facilities located in Hamilton, East Tamaki, Masterton, and Palmerston North.

The course provides you with a range of driver licences, including:

  • A class of truck licence
  • Wheels, Tracks and Rollers endorsements
  • Forklift and OSH endorsements
  • Dangerous Goods

You will also receive training in other related areas which will provide you with the skills you need to get the job you want. These areas include:

  • Heavy vehicle dynamics
  • Driver risk reduction and hazard identification
  • Startup and shutdown procedures

AMS Group is a registered private training establishment and is pleased to offer you an entry level qualification which will help you kick-start your career in road transport or civil construction. This course is approved by NZQA and all credits will be registered with NZQA.

Our trainers are qualified and have extensive experience in driver training. We have our own fleet of vehicles so all the training is done onsite.

To qualify you must be a New Zealand resident who has held a full car licence for a minimum of 6 months.

Once you have completed the enrolment form and returned it to AMS Group you will be phoned 2-3 weeks prior to the course commencing. You will be asked to attend a 10 minute pre course interview with one of our trainers. This is a requirement before we can accept you onto the course. If you fail to attend this appointment your application may be unsuccessful.
