Crawler Crane Course

After an industry review with Skills.org, many of the crane unit standards have been updated. AMS Group strive to keep at the forefront of industry changes and as such will adopt the newest version of these units from May 1st 2018. In some cases the pre-requisite requirements will be updated.

Course Content

Operating a Crawler Crane is a specialised skill.

By completing this Crawler Crane Operator course, and based on the trainee's practical experience, at the end of this programme trainees will be able to apply theory and skills in lifting and placing loads with a overhead crawler crane and analyse and evaluate processes, through practical experience. This course is based on coaching and assessment only and is designed for trainees with experience in overhead crawler crane operation.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of using a track crawler crane;
  • Configure and position a track crawler crane;
  • Lift and place regular and irregular loads with a track crawler crane;
  • Place a track crawler crane with a lattice boom in out-of-service condition, and complete documentation; and
  • Carry out daily and weekly safety and maintenance of a track crawler crane with a lattice boom.

Pre-Requisites

  • Unit Standard 3789 Sling regular loads and communicate during crane operations - proof will be required for registration

Please note that unit standard 3789, now requires 30072 as a pre-requisite. If trainees do not hold 3789, then both units 30072 and 3789 will be required for entry into this unit. These courses are available from AMS Group.

Additional Pre-Requisites

  • Be 16 years of age or over
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.0 (General Training). Proof of this will be required.
